The T-shirt I Wear is a personal project that was created to bring together the love of t-shirt design and the young adult's fascination with socially shared content. Targeted at the 18-25 youth market, I used Instagram and image recognition technology to provide more than just a Tumblr style Youth Apparel website.
Users are encouraged to take photo's 'in or of' their favourite t-shirts, upload them to Instagram and tag them #thetshirtiwear. These images are then sourced and compiled into a feed that is displayed on the site. Users are also offered the ability to try and purchase the same or similar styled t-shirts via 'I want a t-shirt like this', and likewise they can also vote on t-shirt designs that they like. As momentum grows, there will be a top 20 listing of the most 'liked t-shirts'.
The site is responsive, though designed primarily for hand-held smart phones devices. Users can also access the site via desktop and tablet platforms.
Still in its infancy, there are future phased developments for improved user experiences and a wider inclusion of other social platforms. There are also plans to monetize the site via affiliate programmes and placed branded product advertising.
