As Head of Product at BBC Worldwide, Mark Jones leads a team of highly creative and skilled front-end and back-end developers. I am proud to have been part of a core team lead by Mark, that not only create, but set the standard and benchmark others judge themselves upon. Whilst working within the core BBC Worldwide Development team, between myself and Mark, we devised an effective way for our sales teams to respond quickly and efficiently to client engagements. This 'approach' became known as The Advertorial Cookbook. Here we would describe a number of template types and structures which empowered our colleagues with a level of autonomy to form an appropriate response to briefs and sales leads they engaged in. The Cookbook contained a recipe of tools and digital solutions for Branded Content, very much akin to a traditional agency rate card. Though each solution was effective, efficient and built to order, Mark still saw room for improvement. Mark made the bold but informed move to develop the Cookbook into a fully functioning CMS. This fulfilled the ever growing nature for the quick response and to market needs we were encountering. The most suitable digital solutions and UI components I had created were brought together into a thematic UI/UX modular based, website builder. I am proud to have provided the Creative Direction for the UI and UX to what has become a highly effective, skilfully crafted product. Though very much the unsung visionary hero, Mark Jones was the orchestrator, conductor and indeed driving force behind this great product.
